Retention value should be irrelevant. That being said I prefer the black. I think it is more elegant and understated than the blue which screams summertime and look at me watch. Blue is great as a second watch for the right occasions, but the black is a great all year around watch. I have a blue-dial DJ and think I’d rather get a black dial over a second blue one, even though I think the Bluesy is one of the best-looking models Rolex makes. With three black/darker dials I thought maybe trade sub around and pony up $$ for a white or blue or dial dj41/Daytona/ maybe oysterflex something.
