The leadership team of NASA’s airborne telescope, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA, includes five accomplished women who are making waves in space science and engineering.
The awards recognize the best SOFIA-based research publication and SOFIA-based Ph.D. thesis and were awarded to the recipients by Dr. Nicholas White, Vice President, Science, at USRA, which manages the program. NASA’s now-retired Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) aircraft will find a permanent home in the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
